In January 2015 she tore her ACL playing basketball during her senior year of high school on her 18th birthday. After being active her whole life through dance and sports, she immediately began working out following the injury in fear that not playing sports and her terrible diet would inevitably lead her to gain weight before her senior prom. Going into the surgery in May, one month before her high school graduation, she didn’t realize how long the journey to recovery would be and eventually fell in love with working out when healing and strengthening her leg during her first year at Spelman College became a necessity. She fell in love with how the gym made her feel and by the time she regained my strength she was hooked to the gym. By her junior year of college she decided to create getmophit to share her workouts with her Spelman sisters who began to inquire about how to navigate the gym.

At the time she didn’t yet realize the impact working out could have on her life. Her journey of healing transformed in a different way her senior year of college when her mom fell fatally ill. After passing one month before her college graduation she soon learned that, unlike high school, physically working out wasn’t enough to heal the wounds she had acquired through that process. However, throughout her time of grief, she committed to her physical health journey and learned to work on her mental as well, vowing to ingrain taking care of herself a part of her lifestyle. This commitment ultimately changed her mentality towards life and allowed her to tap into an entirely new level of healing. She wants to help her clients learn to put their physical and mental health first so they can create the health and mindset that will enable them to reach all of their goals, despite any hardships or obstacles life throws their way.
